Tri-County YMCA and Teen Outback Youth Center Join Forces for Expanded Programs

TeenoutbackThe year was 1998 and the Foundation had just secured a $100,000 grant to refurbish the old high school gymnasium.  And so began the revitalization of a Teen Canteen, today known as the Teen Outback Youth Center.

Fast forward 10 years and it is no secret the Outback continues to enrich the lives of countless local teens.

While the youth center facilities remain top-notch, the capacity to expand youth programming lacked vital staff and financial resources. In order to expand summer and after-school programs for area teens, the Foundation facilitated a meeting for our local tri-county YMCA and Teen Outback.  This summer, a leadership camp was launched at the Outback.

To continue the success, local parents need to encourage their youth to participate in these newly launched programs.  Take advantage of the various recreational, cultural and edu-cational benefits of programs, keeping teens active and engaged throughout the summer months. To learn more, contact Outback at 683-TEEN or Tri-County YMCA at 367-2323.
