In an effort to strengthen connections among non-profits, the Foundation launched an initiative for nonprofits to network. The initiative is entitled, “BetterTogether: Building Social Capital for Nonprofits.” The 90-minute session started at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, at Old Town Hall and nearly 80 participants came together from across the county.
Elected officials of Huntingburg, Jasper, and Ferdinand, as well as various church representatives and charitable organizations joined the 90-minute session to interact, connect, and discuss a range of topics that would assist nonprofits work smarter, not harder.
Helen Monroe, national consultant for Indiana Grantmakers Alliance and Lilly Endowment, will lead the discussion. This is an opportunity for local nonprofit leaders to interact, connect, and create social capital for the greatest impact in our community. “Philanthropic leaders across Dubois Co. face a common challenge: significant increase in the need for their services while many funding sources are decreasing,” Fred Souders, Board President, said.
This initiative opens the door for nonprofits to work smarter, not harder. It is the start of a conversation we are confident our nonprofits will want to continue. Our Community Foundation is eager to invest in ideas for community change. When the ideas originate from the hearts and minds of our nonprofit leaders, Dubois County becomes a happier, healthier place to live. This is our opportunity to hear directly from the nonprofit community.
