Guided Winter Walks at Nature Preserve
Join us on Saturday, December 18, 2010 (8:30am & 3:00pm)
In the spirit of the winter season, community members can enjoy the wilderness on a guided nature walk held at the
Jeffers Nature Preserve west of Huntingburg by trained biologists and conservation enthusiasts Angie McDonald, Tom Moore, and George McCormick. Two inaugural interpretive walks were conducted on Saturday, November 20 at the Preserve. This is the second in the walking series.
- Walks begin at the asphalt parking lot immediately west of the Huntingburg Water Treatment Plant, 1101 W 6th Street, with plenty of available parking.
- Trail is about a quarter-mile loop through the front portion of the 30-acre Preserve. Sturdy walking shoes and appropriate dress are encouraged for the weather.
- Both trails are mulched and easily walked.
- Trail guides will interpret various features of interest, importance, and ecological value.
- Nature enthusiasts of all ages are invited to take advantage of this excellent resource.
Future dates and times will be forthcoming, including a night walk in January during the peak of owl breeding season. More on the upcoming "Owl Prowl" and other details are posted on the Jeffers Nature Preserve Facebook. If on Facebook, simply search for "Jeffers Nature Preserve."
