Explore the 60 plus charities in your community receiving grants from the Community Foundation's countless endowments, established and funded by donors who have a passion for their community.

The Board of Directors approved 2010 disbursements at $100,000.   This amount is determined by the endowment's ability to produce such earnings over a twelve quarter rolling average.  The year to date (YTD) totals includes special grants requested by contributors throughout the year, which raises the total grant awards.

The Board has achieved its goals of balancing our community's immediate needs with the commitment to prudently manage the endowments for the long-term.   Special consideration was given to how such a distribution of grants might impact the endowments ability to perform in the investment markets over the coming years of potential volatility.

Given the Foundation experienced a 16.54% increase during 2009, a rebound from the 2008 losses of -4.86%, Financial Advisor, Mark Nicholson of LPL Financial, felt confident in the Board's decision.   Since receiving board approval, the grants committee has already disbursed several grants and will continue to do so throughout the year.   Such grants include those for designated charities as outlined by the donor's wishes and specified endowments.  For discretionary grants by which the Foundation is in charge of directing grants towards areas of most need in the community, the grants committee is placing special emphasis on nonprofits and causes deeply impacted by the difficult economic climate or those prepared to build perpetual solutions for the betterment of our community.
