Jyl LoehrFOUNDATION LAUNCHES LILLY ENDOWMENT'S PILOT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Huntingburg Foundation announced the hire of Jyl Loehr as Community Relations Intern for the pilot internship program for Indiana community Foundations. As the Community Relations Intern, Loehr will oversee efforts to communicate and convene with community members in order to evaluate and expand the Foundation's grant-making and development opportunities.

Loehr looks forward to contributing to the Huntingburg Foundation's efforts to expand philanthropy in her community. Jyl is the daughter of Dave and Andrea Loehr of Holland, and graduated from Southridge High School in 2009 as valedictorian of her class.

Loehr has participated in various community outreach programs, such as the All-Stars Substance Abuse council, Ambassadors Cross-Age Mentoring, and partner reading programs. She has also served in a number of leadership positions in school and community clubs and organizations. She is currently attending University of Evansville, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

The Community Foundation Internship is a new pilot program for Indiana Community Foundations funded by a Lilly Endowment grant under the Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) Initiative. The Endowment's program aims to address two key objectives: to help build healthy Indiana community foundations and to provide Indiana college students with real-life work experiences.

The goal of the internship is to reflect the mission of the Foundation by connecting donors with charities and community projects. The Huntingburg Foundation serves to organize leaders, resources, and philanthropists in an effort to preserve the community's heritage and charitable giving for future generations. As the Community Relations Intern, Loehr will plan and facilitate regular meetings of community members to discuss issues and assist efforts to meet community needs. She will also help develop a strategy to market the Foundation, educate the public, and maximize the development of endowments through nonprofit and community partnerships.
