Summary of Program
Lilly Endowment recently announced a new pilot program for the state under the Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) Initiative: Community Foundation Internships (CFI). Through CFI, funding will be made available for eligible Indiana Community Foundations to engage interns from Indiana colleges and universities to assist the foundation by addressing important foundation needs.
In an effort to provide college students with real-life work experiences in communities across our state, interns will have an opportunity to work with the Huntingburg Foundation to explore the development, grantmaking, and community convening our Foundation delivers to the local community. While student interns will be exposed to all areas of the Foundation, those with the proper skill sets will directly engage in our efforts to convene non-profit and community leaders.
The Huntingburg Foundation intern will oversee efforts to communicate and convene with community members in order to evaluate and expand the Foundation's grant-making and development opportunities. The internship will consist of planning and facilitating regular meetings of community members to discuss issues and assist efforts to meet community needs. The intern will also help develop a strategy to market the Foundation, educate the public, and maximize the organization's development of endowments through nonprofit and community partnerships.
Our Foundation's objective is to invest in our community's future, and each day, we deliver on the charitable wishes of countless of donors who desire to make a difference. It is our hope that the internship program via Lilly will not only allow us us to do more, but shape the life works of a student in the process.
From the Desk of Clayton Boyles - Intern
After being offered the internship at the Huntingburg Foundation, I began to realize that my work career would soon be starting. The experience that I will gain from interning at the Huntingburg Foundation will serve as a foundation for my career. I look forward to working hard for this Foundation; making a difference for the community around me.
I will be a Senior at Indiana University, enrolled in an Accelerated Master's Program, pursuing a Master's Degree in Non-Profit Management. This internship is helping me connect classroom knowledge with real world experience. Thus far, I have enjoyed my time at the Huntingburg Foundation and look forward to helping out with what I can in the weeks to come.
From the Desk of Lindsey Meyer - Intern

I cannot express how grateful I am to be working at the Huntingburg Foundation this summer. It is a wonderful opportunity for me to gain hands-on experience and see the community come together to make a difference. I look forward to learning about what the Foundation does and interacting with people who strive to make our community the best that it can be.
I am a junior at the University of Evansville, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in Language Arts. So far, my eyes have already been opened to the amount of involvement and passionate people in our community and I look forward for the experience to keep growing.
